Google recently announced the beta availability of the Gemini Nano lightweight AI model for Android developers. This model is designed for lightweight tasks on-device, suitable for low-performance smartphones and tablets. Developers can integrate this model into their applications using Google's AI Edge SDK. The Gemini Nano model is part of the Google Gemini model family, offering three main advantages: ensuring privacy, operation without internet connectivity, and no subscription required.

Google announced on Thursday that it has launched the AI assistant feature—Gmail Q&A— for paid users of Gmail on Android devices, with plans to roll it out to iOS devices in the future. This feature allows users to interact directly with the AI assistant Gemini within the Gmail app to read and summarize inbox content or search for specific information, such as key points from particular emails or costs of past company marketing campaigns. The functionality enhances information retrieval efficiency by adding a Gemini button next to the traditional search bar. Currently, this feature is limited to email.
